Dreamtime Country 2
When I painted this original piece, I envisioned the stories of the Dreamtime I have been told, the stories that carry the wisdom, law, and teachings of my ancestors. Each brushstroke became a way to connect with those narratives, to translate the intangible energy of story, spirit, and country onto the canvas. While my painting techniques were growing and evolving with each piece I created, this particular work spoke to me deeply, capturing the essence of my connection at that time.
This painting symbolizes everything about our strong connection to country, spirit, people, and storylines. The lines, shapes, and colours reflect the living energy of country, the presence of our old people, and the threads of knowledge that guide us. It is a celebration of the landscapes, the skies, the waters, and the sacred places that shape our stories, as well as the bonds that tie us to community and culture.
This artwork is a reflection of both personal and collective memory, a visual language of connection, belonging, and continuity. It invites the viewer to step into the rhythms of Dreamtime, to feel the stories, and to recognise the enduring relationship between people, country, and spirit that carries us forward.
